Volvo Xc90 Rear Door Will Not Open

It displays the driver door open message and chimes at me constantly.

When i got my xc90 the rear door had some issues when it came to opening. To open the door i had to perform what i call the push squeeze pull method. We have a volvo xc90 2004 and the rear hatch door became increasingly hard to open recently. Volvo xc90 rear hatch door closed and won t open hold the hatch hard closed into its frame whilst pulling on the release handle.

Basically i would grab the handle as if i were about to squeeze it but just before i squeezed the handle i would push the door in slightly and then squeeze. Now it is closed not locked but no matter what i do the handle does not release the door and we can t open it at all. The mechanism on most cars consists a grab release on the door and a simple metal hop at the bottom of the frame. A door in my volvo xc90 won t open from the inside now what.

Its pretty simple though. My 04 xc70 hasn t done this for a while but it just started back up and i ve got a long trip tomorrow that i don t want to have to deal with it on. I can open and shut the door a few times and it might go away. The rear passenger side door in my xc90 had been like this for a few months and it was frustrating the heck out of me. Over time the hoop can become loose and move slightly inwards each time the door is shut. I ll close the driver s door but the car still thinks it s open. Sure he could have sat on the other side but he s 12 and apparently.
